Fall 2025 Tournament Recap

By Filipe ·

The Fall 2025 tournament ran as a 2v2 team event at the Blind Duck Pub, with teams entering on a first-come-first-serve basis. It was the club’s first tournament of the founding year and set the format the club has used since.

The format

The event ran as a 2 vs 2 team tournament at the Blind Duck Pub, with entry on a first-come-first-serve basis. Running it in pairs kept the tables busy and gave newer members a partner to lean on, which is exactly what we wanted for a first outing.

How it played out

Turnout filled the room well past what we planned for, and the top four teams earned guaranteed spots in the follow-up tournament. Matches ran from the early afternoon through to the evening, and the atmosphere around the tables stayed loud for most of it.

What we learned

  • Team formats lower the barrier for first-time competitors. Keep them.
  • First-come-first-serve fills fast. Arrive early if you want a spot.
  • Posting a written rulebook ahead of time cut down on mid-match disputes.
  • A shot clock is worth trialling for later rounds to keep the schedule on time.

Thanks to everyone who came out, and to the execs who ran brackets all afternoon. Check the Tournaments page for upcoming dates.
